FC SHOCKMOUNT

The Surface IgniterTM  family of hot surface igniters is the latest refinement of the product originally produced in 1969. Many improvements have been made since then and the result is, we believe, an igniter with a combination of... - longer useable life (reduced aging), - greater physical strength, - lower power consumption, - superior gas lighting ability, ...than any other igniter on the market today.

Increased life and strength result from our unique reaction bonding process which produces a higher density silicon carbide. This higher density reduces internal oxidation (a cause of aging) and increases structural integrity. Surface IgnitersTM  draw less current and light gas at lower temperatures than competitive products due to the efficient double helix design.

Furthermore, the Igniter, when used with the "Shock Mount" configuration, adds an order of magnitude or more to its ability to withstand the rigors of shock and vibration. The "FC Shock Mount" family of reaction-bonded silicon carbide igniters utilizes unique flexible stainless steel brackets which absorb much of the force which would otherwise be transmitted to the igniter itself. This product offers all the advantages of the other igniters plus the ability to survive much greater levels of shock and vibration. Several styles of the "shockmount" exist which allow it to directly replace many of the traditional igniter configurations.
